Clarion County Literacy Council
The Clarion County Literacy Council offers individualized instruction in basic reading, math, English as a Second Language, GED tutoring, and specific testing such as cosmetology, truck driving and driver’s exam. Clarion PAWS
Do you love cats? How about caring for cats? Clarion PAWS (Pet Adoption and Welfare Society) located in Shippenville on River Hill could use your help caring for the cats and kittens waiting for adoption. Clarion PAWS also has a program for foster families willing to take in displaced animals while they wait for a new home and educational programs for school children and interested adults.
Big Brothers Big Sisters
BBBS provides children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported 1-to1 relationships that change the children’s lives for the better, forever. Begin a Big Brother or Big Sister gives the opportunity to help shape a child’s future for the better by empowering him or her to achieve. This goal is met by enjoying activities with your Little, such as playing sports, go on a hike, eat pizza with everything on top or just giving some advice and inspiration.
Clarion County YMCA
For those interested in sports and social recreation, Clarion County YMCA depends on dedicated people to help lead, coach and/or assist different programs.
Winds of Trade Community Center
All members of the community are invited for fun, creativity through art, wood working, and social connection in a safe learning environment. We are dedicated to bringing creativity back to the community. The Winds of Trade is furnished with couches, chairs, and tables for playing games, working on art and wood projects, or for hanging out with friends. Winds of Trade Community Center offers volunteers a variety of opportunities to enhance their personal and professional development.
Garden Club of Clarion County
Founded in 1929, The Garden Club of Clarion County offers many varied opportunities to become involved in the community. The group focusses on the cleanup and beautification of its garden at the western approach of the Clarion River Bridge on US Rt. 322, at the Blue Star Memorial Marker in Clarion at the corner of Main Street and 5th Avenue and at various community gardens throughout the county. New club members may also volunteer to help plant annuals at Clarion Hospital’s Cancer Center. The group meets at noon on the second Tuesday from April through October.
